Design Principal
Bo Baltis is a licensed architect with Master
of Architecture Degrees from Washington University
in St. Louis and also from the Illinois Institute
of Technology. Before beginning his own practice,
he practiced at several firms in Chicago
including Vinci/Hamp Architects and Skidmore,
Owings & Merrill.
As Design Principal,
Bo leads building design in the firm. His
work is distinguished by
an emphasis on the design of a total habitable
space and the continuity between exterior
and interior.
Past projects have included
custom residences, building additions and
renovations in Chicago,
Evanston, and Glencoe. Recently he completed
design for renovation of a series of
video editing studios for a leading post-production
house in Chicago. Previous projects have
also involved restoration of architecturally
significant Chicago residences and university
buildings. Uniquely characteristic of
his
designs are custom interior furnishings
which are often included as enhancements
to his
design projects.
Bo is currently engaged
in designing several new residences which
deviate
from the conventional,
neo-traditional residential styles
that have dominated Chicago’s residential
market in the recent past. By contrast,
Bo’s
designs are characterized by gracefully
reshaping the exterior building to achieve
more expansive,
free-flowing and luminous interior space.
His goal is to create a residence that
is thoroughly modern is able to beautifully
respond a clients current lifestyle,
and
is unencumbered by false history and
predictable expression.
